The progress of students is certified by obtaining the DELF and DALF: Examinations of the French Embassy, which are conducted through the French Institute and correspond to the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
DELF Level A1 Certifies the basic foundations of the French language at a rudimentary level that allows for simple communication in familiar and everyday situations.
DELF Level A2 Certifies basic knowledge of the French language for communication through simple and common dialogues, requiring straightforward and direct discussions on familiar and current topics.
DELF Level B1 Certifies a level of proficiency in addressing daily life problems: knowledge of approximately 2000 words of vocabulary and basic grammar, the ability to understand and participate in discussions on current topics, and the ability to present oral and written information on everyday life topics.
DELF Level B2 Certifies a good command of everyday spoken French, enabling correct written and oral expression on a wide range of topics.
DALF Level C1 Guarantees the recognition of an advanced level of the French language by official organizations and companies, exempting foreign students who wish to pursue higher education in most higher education institutions in France and many French-speaking countries from the mandatory entrance examination, which certifies sufficient knowledge of the French language.
DALF Level C2 Certifies a high level of French language knowledge, although it cannot be compared to that of a native French speaker. It requires academic or creative work. All holders of this diploma have the opportunity to obtain the Teaching Proficiency of French, which is granted by the Greek Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning, and Religion.
SORBONNE B1-C2: Examinations of the Sorbonne in Paris, which are conducted in Greece through the French Institute. They correspond to levels B1, B2, C1, and C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and have a literary orientation, in contrast to the DELF-DALF series, which are communicative diplomas.
