The MSU-CELC and MSU-CELP exams follow the same structure and are divided into sections that are completed within specific time frames. These exams are designed to assess all four language skills.

1st Section: Written Production (25 units)
Think about it—Write about it! A test of English writing ability (constituting 80% of the section, which is 20 out of 25 units)
In the essay section, you are given a choice of two topics. You have 35 minutes to respond to one of the two topics to the best of your ability, expressing your opinion. There is no specific word limit.
Grammar you can use! A test of English Grammar (constituting 20% of the section, which is 5 out of 25 units)
The grammar section consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. In 20 minutes, this section asks you to demonstrate your knowledge of various aspects of English grammar.

2nd Section: Oral Comprehension (25 units)

The oral comprehension section lasts approximately 45 minutes and consists of three parts: short conversations, longer conversations, and two extended dialogues. The passages in the third part are played twice.

3rd Section: Written Comprehension (25 units)
Read about it! A test of English reading ability
You have 60 minutes to complete the written comprehension section, which consists of 40 questions based on 4 different text passages.

4th Section: Oral Production (25 units)

In a guided interview lasting 10-12 minutes, candidates are required to respond to 6 different questions that ask them to describe, narrate, and support their opinions on various topics. Two assessors evaluate the candidates' performance in each of these 6 activities..
