The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is organized by the British Council and the University of Cambridge. It was created to meet the standards of British educational institutions and English-speaking educational institutions worldwide.

The scoring scale for IELTS ranges from 1 to 9. Test takers are scored in each of the individual sections (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking), which are then combined to provide an overall band score.

IELTS exams in Athens and Thessaloniki are conducted every month throughout the year. Results are issued 13 days after the examination.
